Skin Deep with a Purpose
Sometimes your skin needs a little more attention than a chemical peel or microdermabrasion can offer. Deep scars, stretch marks or wrinkles can make you self-conscious about your appearance and have you looking older than you are. Cosmetic Plastic Surgery of Illinois has the solution with the Palomar Lux1540™ Fractional Laser for the deep correction of lines and wrinkles, acne scars as well as surgical and trauma scars.
How Laser Resurfacing Works
Any time the skin is injured, in this case with highly controlled and purposeful thermal injury, the response is new collagen formation. The treated tissue initiates the natural healing process that accelerates the formation of new, healthy collagen and firmer, more youthful skin tissue. Common areas for resurfacing treatments include stretch marks and scars on the entire face or wrinkles around the eyes, mouth and/or forehead individually.
What to Expect During Resurfacing
Typically, a topical numbing anesthetic is all that is needed prior to treatments performed in our office. Compared to one CO2 Laser treatment, 3-5 Fractional laser treatments are necessary for optimal results.
Resurfacing Results
Results are similar to the CO2 laser, but less downtime, risks and side effects are experienced. Results can last up to several years.
