Give Yourself a Lift
A woman’s breasts often change over time. It’s something you can fight, but numerous factors play against you. Age, gravity, pregnancy, breastfeeding, fluctuating weight and even heredity can have an effect on how youthful and firm your breasts stay over time.
How a Breast Lift Works
A breast lift (also known as a mastopexy) raises and firms the breasts by removing excess skin and tightening the surrounding tissue to reshape and support the new breast. It can even reduce the areola, which can become enlarged over time. There are three types of incisions breast lift procedures follow. The physicians at Cosmetic Plastic Surgery of Illinois will determine the best type of incision for you, depending on your breast size and shape, the position of your areolas, the degree of breast sagging and the skin quality and elasticity of the breasts. The three common incision patterns are:
- Around the areola
- Around the areola and vertically down to the breast crease
- Around the areola, vertically down to the breast crease and horizontally along the breast crease (anchor shape)
Expected Results of a Breast Lift
A breast lift won’t significantly change the size of your breasts or round out the upper part of your breast. You will need to consider breast augmentation or breast reduction surgery for that. What it will do, however, is make your silhouette more youthful and uplifted. Scarring will happen as a result of the procedure. Some will be hidden in the natural contours of the breast, while some will be evident on the surface of the breast. Over time, these scars should fade and dramatically improve in appearance.
Vectra 3D Imaging
At Cosmetic Plastic Surgery of Illinois we use the latest technology to ensure that the end result is a happier, more confident you. The Vectra 3D imaging system allows breast augmentation and breast lift (mastopexy) patients to envisage the results of their surgery prior to going to surgery. The Vectra simulates an outcome for the patient based on a real image of their body and reproduces an image of what the patient would look like with their desired size of implant.
